First thing in the morning, Troy hopped on his motorcycle to go to Big Moose Harley Davidson, in Portland Maine, to get them to straighten out his fender, replace the engine guard and check over his bike to make sure things were all good, as Troy had hit a deer back on Day 9. I did the laundry, wrote some posts, edited some video, enjoying the peaceful morning.
Troy got back from Big Moose Harley Davidson by noon, I had all our bags packed up and sitting outside our room, with a couple cold ones ready. Since we missed the fireworks at Old Orchard Beach last night, we decided to go there today, maybe there wouldn’t be as much traffic… HAHA ya right! It is a happening place and we both said maybe this is where we should have stayed last night! FUN TIMES!
We rode around a few streets checking things out, pulled up as close as we could to the Atlantic Ocean and took our picture! How awesome is that, we made it to the Atlantic Ocean, and it was HOT! We found a parking spot, walked to the ocean and stood in the water in our boots, jeans and shirts, we were the only ones in jeans!! We found a cool place to sit, have a cold beverage and check out the beach. We were only sitting down for a minute and I got shit on by a bird, Troy was quick to get the camera, I cleaned myself up, without puking, now we enjoyed our cold beverage! We stayed a couple hours, met some great people from Flint Michigan, who also had rode down on their ’93 Ultra. We ordered some peel and eat shrimp and raw oysters, us prairie kids haven’t had them before.. check out the video to see our reaction!! LOL!
We left Old Orchard Beach and headed down Hwy 1, slow and steady, we were confused if we had crossed into Massachusetts yet or not and whether we had to put on our helmets… guess we should have paid closer attention in Geography class, as we passed back through New Hampshire. We rode through Portsmouth NH, it was very nice and very old. We stopped at Portsmouth New Hampshire at The Wren’s Inn, nice locally owned Inn, we didn’t have a big riding day, only 130km, but it was so hot and we totally enjoyed our time at Old Orchard. We ate dinner at the restaurant, I had scallops, not as good as the first ones I had at Norway Lake in Vermont, but still good, and Troy had a burger, which still baffles us when they ask us how you want it cooked?!?!!
