10 months of planning, prepping, organizing, recruiting volunteers and meetings after meetings, the Calgary Chapter can be proud of all their hard work and volunteered time. The day started out a little overcast but as time got closer to 10:30am, the riders arrived one by one then in groups, almost 500 riders registered, getting close to their financial goal from all the pledges and corporate sponsorships.

“Start Your Engines”was announced and we were lead out of Maxbell Arena by Police Escort, we headed off Memorial Drive to Deerfoot Trail, heading south with all exits being blocked off by the police. The line of motorcycles was over 2km long, we ended that part of the ride at the south side of Calgary, where we picked up our map and first poker hand. All the motorcycle riders went on their own, following the map to get to the next poker hand, we rode over 200km, stopping at 3 other towns before parking our motorcycles for an afternoon of entertainment.
We were honored to be able to ride near the front of the procession and be so involved with the fantastic Committee of the Calgary Chapter of Ride for Dad. As an added bonus Garry Janz, original founder of Ride for Dad was in town for the event along with Bill Brooks, as the honorary Ride Captain.

We put together a short video of the day, and the whole show will be aired on Shaw Access TV later this summer.
